City of Others — Asian Artists in Paris 1920s–1940s

Project
City of Others: Asian Artists in Paris 1920s–1940s
Client
National Gallery Singapore
Type
Exhibition Catalogue
Year
2025

The City of Others exhibition catalogue brings together nearly 200 artworks, 100 archival images, and translated sources to trace Asian artists in 1920s–1940s Paris, examining modernism, colonialism, and migrant experience. Its design reflects the layered histories of interwar Paris: a Pantone Gold metallic cover evokes Art Deco elegance, while the layout distinguishes essays, archival materials, and translations through spatial framing and color. Section maps and tonal shifts—black for archives, mint for translations—guide readers through a visually rich narrative of global artistic exchange.
