Overgrowth

Project
Overgrowth
Client
Singapore Management University
Year
2024

Overgrowth is a one-day programme of workshops and panel discussions marking the culmination of artist Priyageetha Dia’s residency with SMU Libraries Singapore, where she researched the Malayan Emergency, communist insurgency, and the role of rubber plantations within Cold War histories. The visual identity is type-driven, expressing the idea of overgrowth through graphic lines that extend like roots beyond the frame, suggesting expansion and resistance to containment. The typography for “Priyageetha Dia” features a deliberate mix of typefaces, producing a glitch-like effect that echoes her engagement with digital media and layered narratives.
