Screening the Forest is a special programme curated by Dr. Graiwoot
Chulphongsathorn and presented by the Asian Film Archive. It
takes nature as its point of departure by weaving together the forest in Asian cinema such as the cinematic forests from India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.
The forest is an entity that fills us with facsination and awe, and we attempted to express that feeling in our design. The spot of light emulates the act of filming and capturing different vignettes of the forest. The shadows formed are set in a different typeface, to represent the forest as a shapeshifter, a metaphor that cannot be easily captured nor contained.
