Singapore artist Teo Eng Seng is known for bold experimentation across seven decades, and is especially recognised for inventing “paperdyesculpt” in the 1980s, a process of shaping dyed papier-mâché and other materials into sculptural works. The book’s cover centres on the title set in a typeface with ink-trap details and glyph alternates that evoke a sculptural, organic quality, mirroring his intuitive approach. A stylised image of a sculptural work is cropped across the cover and back to emphasise materiality and spontaneity, while hand-torn edges add a tactile quality that echoes the experimental nature of his practice.
